Puppy Play and Train classes  (weekly 1 hour classes at The Gap)

Attend a class setting with your 8 to 16 week old puppy to maximise their socialisation and learn hands on training techniques using positive reinforcement techniques.  These classes run on a rolling weekly basis so there's no need to sign up to a full course if you aren't sure you can commit to every week. Just attend on a casual basis.  This format also ensures that you don't need to waste precious time during your pup's critical socialisation period for the next course to commence, you can start socialisising and training your puppy immediately.
These classes are also beneficial for those puppies who may have already attended a puppy course somewhere and who would benefit from some extra classes.  And for owners who would like to squeeze in some extra socialisation and training for their puppy even though they may be attending a course elsewhere.
The classes cover a wide variety of basic training commands and life situations where you can learn force free techniques to give your puppies the best start to life.

Every Saturday 2.30pm to 3.30pm  (The first class you attend will be a 2pm start)

$35 per class

Intermediate Puppy Training classes (6 week course at The Gap)

Next classes commencing Saturday 5th October 2024
It's time to start looking at more advanced training for your puppy from when they reach 16 to 18 weeks.  This is a very important developmental age for puppies and it really pays to stay focused on their training during their adolescent stage.  Many owners complete puppy school and then either stop training classes altogether or they wait until the dog much older to start attending more classes.
Many behavioural challenges creep in during this age, particularly around lead manners and impulse control and it can be much harder to correct them at a later age.

If your puppy has just completed basic puppy classes, this course is the perfect follow on to ensure your puppy is on track to be a calm and well-mannered dog. This course is also suitable for young adult dogs who might have missed training earlier on or who need a refresher course.

The class will cover rewards based methods of -
The use of bridging words, clickers and correct timing when training
Focus exercises
Impulse control
Settling exercises
Loose lead walking
Further developing existing cues eg " sit, drop, stay"
Teach a "leave it" cue
Developing a good recall

$230 - 6 week course (1 hour sessions)
Next class starting Saturday 5th October 2024 at 4pm
(Possibly pausing for 1 week on 26th October)

Behaviour Consultations (in home)

An in home Behaviour Consultation will help you get to the bottom of your dog's issues.    Understanding why the behaviour is happening allows us to solve the actual causes rather than trying to gloss over it with ineffective bandaid techniques.

We can prevent and remedy most behavioural challenges by understanding the true nature of our dogs.

From puppies all the way to seniors, Great Danes to Chihuahuas, dogs have a canine language instinctive to them.

There is no denying they occupy a huge and wonderful space in our hearts, in our families and in our lives.

But let's honour and respect their true nature and not assume that they have morphed into four legged humans with fur coats.  We are doing them a great disservice by assuming they can decipher our human language and understand our confusing human world.

This breakdown in communication leads to a great many problems as the dog starts to misconstrue and misunderstand their role.  They aren't barking at every noise or bailing up all your visitors because it's fun!

Learn how to communicate with your dog in a gentle but effective way so they can relax and enjoy their lives rather than trying to figure out who is looking after who.

Learn how to make them feel safe and secure, not dominate them.

Let me teach you how to be someone they trust and respect as well as being the giver of good things.
